Project MOVE (Miner Opportunities for Volunteer Experiences) is The University of Texas at El Paso’s annual day of volunteer service. The program started in 2010 and draws almost 2,000 members of the Miner Nation to assist scores of nonprofit organizations in a wide range of jobs. Participants build camaraderie and knowledge about the community, its residents and their needs.

Through the years, MOVE volunteers have landscaped gardens, painted skate parks, fixed bicycles, organized food pantries, cleaned offices and arroyos, and repaired homes and playground equipment. They have collected canned and nonperishable items for people in need, worked and played with children with disabilities, made blankets, made homes accessible for people with disabilities, visited hospital patients, and translated for medical students. They have even spruced up a cemetery, taught golf, and built bed frames and websites.
